My name is Sylvie. I am 51 years old, a wife and a mother of three children. I am also a nurse. I want to share with you my experience of rebirthing (of which I have personally done at least 30) and of assisting others as a Rebirther. Through rebirthing I discovered the power of the breath. With 'conscious' breathing we activate our cellular memory. By allowing ourselves to feel whatever is buried there, our hidden, negative thoughts and blocked emotions arise in consciousness for release. This is how we can free ourselves from them. Rebirthing has allowed me to overcome negative judgements about my thoughts and feelings. I have become aware of how I resist and try to control these aspects of my experience. Now I let go and allow myself to feel without judgement. As my body relaxes and my breathing becomes easier, I feel the vital force moving through my body, generating a sensation of heat as well as well being. I have become conscious of my patterns: guilt, revenge, wanting to be alone, do everything by myself, etc. Through the breath I became aware of the sense of loneliness I felt during my childhood, even though I came from a family of twelve children. I had unconsciously made the decision that I could rely only on myself. Today I have faith in others and am able to accept the support of those around me. I have learned to love and accept myself as I am. I give myself permission to enjoy myself, for example, by buying flowers for my home. I am also more aware of those moments when I begin to feel guilty or when I judge myself or blame others. When I catch myself doing this, I immediately change my thoughts. On a daily level, I am more in my personal power, I breathe better, and I have greater energy and vitality. Supporting others as a Rebirther has increased my self-confidence. Even though as a nurse I'm comfortable helping others, in the beginning I would doubt whether I was rebirthing a client correctly or if I was saying or doing enough. If my client resisted breathing properly, I felt responsible somehow and would question myself. Now, I follow my intuition by being present to the person, while at the same time accepting his path and level. Rebirthing has brought me the satisfaction of contributing to people attaining their goals and objectives, and creating the life they desire. Sylvie Rancourt Nurse & Rebirther Through rebirthing I have come face to face with my true self. I have also discovered that within me lies a great reservoir of power for self-healing at every level: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. Rebirthing has also confirmed that I have within me the necessary resources for not only healing myself, but also meeting all of life's challenges. It has enabled me to feel both connected with, and supported by, the universe. For the past several years I have felt overwhelmed by an oppressive 'death-urge'. I wanted to be anywhere but on this earth, in this body. My body was so intoxicated with tensions, buried emotions, negative thoughts and chemicals from medications and anaesthesia, that during my first few rebirths I would simply 'check-out' and go unconscious. As my nervous system began to release these toxins I began to experience more and more well-being and inner peace. I discovered my deepest, unconscious negative beliefs about myself and transformed them into positive affirmations with which to create my life. My zest for living has since returned. I now enjoy the present moment and am more alive. Conscious breathing has improved my health immensely. I have had high cholesterol levels since 1988 and had been able to stabilise my condition only through medication, which caused me intense muscular pain. So, at one point I simply refused the drugs. Prior to abandoning these drugs, I had been rebirthing regularly for some months. When I went go my doctor to have my cholesterol level tested, to his great surprise I showed normal. Actually, this shouldn't be surprising when we consider that 70% of the toxins in our bodies are eliminated through breathing, when done efficiently. Medical appointments had always been stressful for me, but now I enter the doctor's office confident and relaxed. My arterial tension is now OK, my pulse is slower and closer to normal, and my respiratory capacity has increased. In addition, I have better physical endurance and more vitality, energy and joy in living. At an emotional level, rebirthing has allowed me to deal with my anger, guilt and resentments. I am convinced that my emotional healing has prevented the resurgence of an earlier cancer. During my rebirth training, I had a polyp at the collar of my uterus which healed after I touched the emotion related to that condition. Through conscious breathing I have learned to love myself and I feel better in my own skin. My body is now a friend whom I have grown to love and respect. I have improved my diet and lost weight. The change that I experience on the inside is reflected on the outside, as well. Rebirthing has allowed me to gradually release my revenge and guilt patterns, two of my most destructive, and replace them with forgiveness. Increasingly, I let go of my 'victim' way of being and assume responsibility for every aspect of my life. I am now open to love and support, having lost my fear of always being hurt. My personal relationships also continue to improve. I now see life as a constant exchange between human beings, in which a simple smile or a 'hello' offered with love can bring beauty to both the receiver and the giver. I recently have completed a six-month Rebirth Training with Lyse. It is a deeply enriching experience for me to support someone through his or her rebirthing session. Through serving in this way, I am able to surpass my petty self-interests as I create a safe 'space' in which the other can breathe and let go. I am growing in love. As a former nurse I have worked in delivery rooms, where breathing is regularly used to make the birth process easier, less painful, and more pleasant. I love guiding people through this natural and fundamental process of breathing. Being a rebirther allows me to contribute to the lives of others, and brings me a lot of energy as I see the great results breathwork produces in their lives. Carole Rancourt Nurse & rebirther Top |
